An independent companion
Parkspan is independently created by Martin Miles. It is not an official government app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the National Park Service or any park agency. All implemented app features are free. Official passes, park fees, reservations and network charges are separate.
The current app is a private testing release for Android 11 and newer. This website describes the release and provides support information; it does not offer a public download or store listing until one is officially available.
Check the details before you travel
Catalog entries, maps, coordinates, fees, facilities, access choices and pass guidance may be incomplete or outdated. Check current access, closures, reservations, road conditions, fees and eligibility with the destination's official sources.
Before-you-go facts are dated snapshots, not live alerts or an all-clear. Fee comparisons depend on the evidence and assumptions shown; unknown conditions remain unresolved. Estimates do not guarantee a cheapest purchase or a particular price.
Pass references and reminders
Saving a picture does not issue, validate or replace an official pass. Carry the pass and identification accepted by the destination. Recorded details and optional eligibility answers do not constitute official verification.
Expiration notifications depend on Android scheduling, permissions and device state. They can be late or unavailable. Check validity yourself.
Your records and backups
You control local records and files you export. Places-only JSON excludes trips and wallet data. The separate full-backup option includes these in a password-encrypted archive. Parkspan cannot recover the password.
Clearing data, replacing records or uninstalling can remove information that has not been backed up. Files saved or shared outside the app are managed separately. Review restore previews and deletion confirmations.
Content and attribution
The Parkspan application source is private. Using the app does not grant access to or rights to redistribute its source. Third-party maps, photographs, fonts and other material remain subject to their applicable licenses.
This website's National Park Service imagery and footage are credited on the Credits page. Public-domain material does not imply agency endorsement. Do not use protected agency marks as Parkspan branding.
Testing and contact
Testing releases may have errors and may change. The app and website are offered as planning aids; verify information that affects your travel. Nothing in these terms removes rights that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
